We are deeply saddened to say that our station, our equipment, and most of our apparatus were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. However, all of our members are safe and getting the supplies they need. Much to our surprise, other fire departments, religious
organizations, and individuals have come to our aid full-force. We have been lucky enough to receive not only apparatus and firefighting supplies, but also household supplies and everything else imaginable. However, even with all of the aid we've received, we regret to report that our largest problem still lies ahead... With all of the homes in our area destroyed, our tax base is destroyed for approximately the next three years. Normally, when we are running low on funds, we go door-to-door and practically beg for help from our community. After the strength of Katrina though, there are no doors left to knock on... We hope and pray that what's left of our community and other individuals and
organizations will help us pull through these rough times. Thank you is a hard thing to say sometimes (and even harder to type). We just wish to thank everyone across the nation and everyone right here in our own backyard for their thoughts and prayers during the past few months.
